Sycamore Cottage

In the grounds of the owners’ house, but with separate access and parking, stands Sycamore Cottage, beside the tree after which it is named, which is over 100 years old. The cottage is about 50 years old, but has been recently refurbished to a high standard. Use has been made throughout of locally sourced wood, which has been oiled to provide a natural look.  There is storage for skis/fishing rods outside and a covered porch for bikes.

The cottage is fully centrally heated, with double glazing throughout, and also has a wood-burning stove. The cosy open-plan living area is furnished with a sofa and easy chair, and has a 43” TV with Freesat. The well-equipped kitchen area has solid oak worktops, electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave etc. There is also a washing machine / dryer. A welcome hamper containing local produce and a bottle of wine can be provided on request.

An archway leads through to the bedroom, which boasts a hand-crafted king-size bed and an en-suite shower room.  The bed has a headboard made from locally sourced Sycamore wood and is higher than average to allow views, through the windows of the surrounding trees and hills.

There is an outside seating area with table and chairs and a handcrafted stool with boot storage and hooks for wet coat storage.

The self contained garden contains a clothes line and pegs are provided.

There is free wifi throughout. Mobile coverage is OK on most networks.

Parking is approx. 40 metres from the cottage.  We are happy to help you across with bags and other luggage if required on arrival and departure.
