Cosy self-catering accommodation sleeps two. Situated between Aviemore and Grantown on Spey in the Cairngorms National Park close to the River Spey and surrounded by woods and farmland. Boat of Garten village is within a mile.
Refurbished in 2021 to a high standard, Locheil Apartment provides cosy accommodation for single people or couples looking for a relaxed break in idyllic surroundings, or for those who want to take advantage of the many opportunities for outdoor recreation. The apartment is in a sheltered location with wonderful views overlooking the River Spey and Strathspey Steam Railway track with the Cairngorm mountains in the background.
Attached to the owners’ house, but with separate access and parking, the apartment is fully centrally heated, with double glazing throughout, and under-floor heating on the ground floor. Downstairs, the well-equipped kitchen-diner area has solid oak worktops, electric cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave etc. and a large dining table. There is also a washing machine / dryer. Also on the ground floor is a small bathroom, with compact bath, shower, WC and wash basin. Upstairs there is bamboo flooring throughout and the cosy triple aspect living room is furnished with a sofa and easy chair, and has a 43” smart TV with Freesat.
There are panoramic views of the Cairngorms from the picture window. From the living room a doorway leads through to the dual aspect bedroom, which boasts a hand crafted king-size bed with oak headboard and luxury bed linen, as well as ample storage and hanging space. The bedroom also has black out curtains and blinds – useful in our long summer nights. Both the living room and bedroom have coombed (sloping) ceilings with a maximum height of 1.95m.
Outside there is a large sheltered south-facing decking area with table and chairs, and views across the fields to the steam railway and beyond. The decking catches the morning sun, ideal for a leisurely breakfast, coffee break or pre-dinner cocktails.
A welcome hamper containing local produce and a bottle of wine can be provided on request.
Car parking is within the owners’ driveway, and is immediately adjacent to the apartment. Access to the apartment is via the decking, and involves 4 steps.
There is access from the apartment through the owners’ garden to adjacent farmland, with walks in all directions, including across the steam railway to the River Spey, which is about 500m from the apartment.
There is free wifi throughout. Mobile coverage is OK on most networks.
